Phi U Gamma Collegiate Initiations

Gamma Collegiate Chapter is 40 members strong! The 2024-25 Year brought in 18 new members.

Fall initiation was held in Arps Hall October 13, 2024. Alumni President Elect, Catherine Clark gave the charge inspiring us to follow our dreams as her Undergraduate studies in Family & Consumer Sciences provided a foundation for a career that culminated as a college President at the University of Rio Grande in Rio Grande, Ohio.

On March 27, 2025, seven new members were initiated into Gamma Collegiate Chapter.

The evening was concluded by a charge given by Jan Bonner who recalled the years at Ohio State navigating the many challenges of being a first generation college students with the help of the many friends gained in Phi U most notably Nikki Shaffer Conklin and Katie Andrews Shelley. A tribute to Velma Everhart, Fern Hunt, Jean Dickerscheid and other Gamma Alumni as the 1998 Phi U quilt was unrolled. Imagine their friendships and bond as they handstitched this quilt. Each initiate was presented with flowers wrapped with a ribbon secured with the Conclave 2022 pin “Sharing our Story in FCS” Each person was encouraged to make strong friendships and continue to encourage each other as your write your story.


April 2, 2025 OSU Scholarship Dinner

Gamma Alumni members Alice Miskell, Norma Pitts and Michele Eastlake attended the OSU April 2nd Scholarship Recognition Dinner for the College Scholarship Celebration. The dinner and program honored students and scholarship donors.  It was a wonderful evening with much visibility within the College for Phi U.


April 24, 2025 Spring Potluck & Alumni Induction

It was a beautiful Spring evening on April 24th when over 40 Gamma alumni, students and guests enjoyed a beautiful potluck buffet at the Advent Lutheran Church on Kenney Road. Students who supported chapter activities were presented with stoles and cords for their service and scholarship.  They will be worn by the students during their graduation ceremony.

The same eight graduates were then inducted into the alumni chapter with the official ceremony from the National Phi Upsilon Omicron handbook.

A short business meeting was held and the 2025-2026 budget was approved. 



The Gamma Alumni board will meet in late June to develop plans for the upcoming year.

The next event will be the Holiday Brunch and Auction slated for Saturday, November 8th.


A new membership form will be sent, via email, to all members in good standing.  We had 106 dues paying members and we hope to increase that number in the 2025-2026 program year. Jan Bonner, membership chair, will be collecting the dues payments.
