Message from President Connie Cahill
Dear Phi Upsilon Omicron Gamma Alumni members:
Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your President for the upcoming 2024-2025 program year. Following in Jan Bonner's footsteps will be a huge undertaking. Under her leadership, Phi Upsilon Omicron Gamma Alumni Chapter accomplished many activities. It is my intent that the new board will continue to be forward thinking with their programs.
The collegiate chapter, under the help of student advisor, Dr. Ann Paulins, has made great strides with their service project, tapping the Legacy Academy, in Columbus, as their focus. We will be sharing more great stories as the year progresses.
The renovation of Campbell Hall has personal significance for me and I am encouraged that the plans will provide future students with a beautiful building for classes and gatherings. A $ 1,000,000 dollar gift to the College of Education and Human Ecology from Columbus restaurateur, Cameron Mitchell, will ensure our Hospitality Management program has an innovative instructional kitchen for future students. Very exciting!
Although our College has moved from part of the College of Agriculture, to an independent College of Home Economics, to the College of Human Ecology, and finally to the marriage of the College of Education and Human Ecology, the progress and interest our students have with various curricula is stable, and even growing.
Our 2023-2024 board and committee members, under the guidance of President Jan Bonner, inspires me to continue to engage our members and the community. Visit our phiuosu.org website for updated information. We will be sending out a BLOG news format to members throughout the year to keep you informed about activities within the alumni chapter, as well as our collegiate chapter. We will continue to be good stewards of our financial resources. And we want YOU to become involved!! Please contact me directly to volunteer to help on committees and projects.
Look at our calendar of events and participate. It's important to enjoy the fellowship that various activities can provide.
I look forward to hearing from you and greeting you at our annual "Holiday Brunch and Auction" on Saturday morning, November 3rd. Bring a friend, but definitely join us for a FUN morning of great food, auction activities to support our scholarships, and camaraderie with friends, old and new. It's not to be missed.
In the words of Woody Hayes, "always pay it forward". I hope this year will give the entire alumni membership an opportunity to achieve our organization's goals. Support Phi Upsilon Omicron with your Time, Treasures, and Talent. Support your professional service organization with "SERVICE".
Let's make it a great year, together!
Connie Cahill
