The Collegiate Chapter of Phi Upsilon Omicron continued its commitment to community engagement this spring by welcoming students from Legacy Academy Middle School back to campus on Wednesday, April 15. Building on the success of December’s etiquette luncheon, this second visit offered the middle school students another meaningful opportunity to connect with collegiate members and experience life at Ohio State.

The morning began inside the Physical Activity and Education Services (PAES) building, located near the east side of Ohio Stadium. Collegiate members led an energetic Ice Breaker activity designed to help everyone get to know one another.
Next, the Legacy Academy students embarked on a “virtual” tour of three different residence halls across campus. Guided by Phi U members, the students learned about dorm layouts, amenities, study spaces, and what daily life looks like for first‑year Buckeyes. The tour sparked curiosity and excitement, giving the middle schoolers a glimpse of the independence and opportunities that come with college living.
Following the tour, a panel of three Phi U collegiate members hosted an open Q&A session. Legacy Academy students asked thoughtful questions about campus life, dining options, volunteer opportunities, academic support, and how to get involved in student organizations. The panelists shared honest insights and personal experiences, helping the students imagine themselves thriving in a college environment.
The visit concluded with a Jimmy John’s lunch enjoyed by both groups. Conversations continued around the tables as students reflected on what they learned and bonded with their collegiate mentors. The day proved to be another successful joint activity helping students in the Linden area community.
